Die Kardisaat (Carthamus tinctorius), auch Färberdistel, Saflor, Öldistel genannt, ist eine Pflanzenart aus der Familie der Korbblütler (Asteraceae). Ihre natürliche Verbreitung reicht von Ägypten und Vorderasien bis Mitteleuropa. Heute gibt es Vorkommen in Europa, China, Afrika, Nordamerika und Australien. Rohfett im Samen 45 - 55%, davon Linolsäure 70 - 80%, außerdem Ölsäure, Palmitinsäure, Linolensäure Farbstoff Carthamin (rot-gelb) Samen: Oleum Carthami - Safloröl hochwertiges Speiseöl (wegen hohem Linolsäure-Gehalt) Kardisaat wird durch seine Grobkernigkeit nur von größeren Cardueliden-.(Gimpel usw.) Großsittch-, Papageien-, und Taubenarten aufgenommen. In gebrochener oder gekeimter Form auch für kleine Cardueliden, vorallem Stieglitz u.ä. ein ausgezeichnetes Mauser und Winterfutter.
